It’s rare to find an editorial job at a comic book publisher posted on the internet. Lots of comic book jobs in editorial go to insiders and word spreads out to people in the industry. But there’s an editor-in-chief job at a comic book company that could be looking for a person just like you.
Medikidz is a health-based comic book company that uses comics to “explain medical conditions to young people in a way they can easily understand.” Based in the U.K., Medikidz has distributed 1.5 million comics in 40 countries, so they’re a pretty good-sized company.
As editor-in-chief, you’ll be “responsible for the overall quality and content” of their comics, set editorial policy, make final deciisons on content and manage all editorial staff and budget. You gotta have team management experience, that includes a knowledge of editing.

One of my favorite cartoonists is Charles Addams. From the time I first saw his cartoons, I loved them. And then I saw Gahan Wilson.
He had such a unique style and a bizarre Addams-like sense of humor, but he went off into different areas - childhood, zombies, science fiction. He was a little grosser, a little weirder, and his style of drawing was not slickly mainstream.
He was a breath of fresh air.
Wilson has lived the charmed life of a cartoonist that you don’t hear about much anymore. He had a regular strip, Nuts (a kind of anti-Peanuts) in National Lampoon (the earlier, funny Lampoon), nearly 50 years’ worth of cartoons in The New Yorker and Playboy, wrote novels, had a syndicated newspaper strip called Gahan Wilson’s Sunday Funnies, book collections and a whole lot more.

There’s some concern that Wallace (of Wallace and Gromit) is being hurt by comparisons to an English Labour Party leader.
The weirdly funny tale of Nicolas Cage’s stolen copy of Action Comics #1 could become a movie. At least it’s the “possible movie” everyone’s talking about in the current 15 minutes.
Becky Jewell interviews J. Torres about his work on Archie’s reboot of Li’l Jinx.

Tom Yeates has been selected to take over the art chores on the classic Prince Valiant comic strip. He posted the brief announcement at his blog, that included this quote: "Gary Gianni and Mark Schultz have been doing fantastic work on the strip, and Yeates hopes to maintain that high quality in the tradition of Hal Foster."
Writer-artist Hal Foster created Prince Valiant in 1937.
I worked briefly with Tom on a Tarzan mini-series back in the 1990s and got to see his original art up close. It’s beautiful stuff and he’s an excellent choice to replace Gianni on the strip.

Novelist and comic book writer Victor Gischler (The Deputy) hopes you’ll pick up his latest: the X-Men: FF hardcover.

Hey, Professor! Can you draw Bugs Bunny? Or Batman? Or several dogs playing poker?
That’s not quite the idea, but if you can draw, the University of Connecticut could be looking for you.
They need an Assistant Professor of Illustration in their Art & Art History department.
It’s a “tenure-track position” starting in August 2012. The position will engage both undergraduate and graduate level students in BFA and MFA degree programs. Opportunities for collaboration exist between illustration and the other studio disciplines.
In addition to teaching you’ll also be working on “curriculum development, advising and serving on departmental committees.” That last bit's kind of a drag, unless there's catering.
Tons of the usual education-based qualifications will have to be met, along with the usual teaching based experience.

If I were going to a TED event this year, I know which one I’d attend. And so should you.
Zach Weiner, the creator of Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, one of the best and most successful webcomics, is going to be a featured speaker at TEDx, at Carnegie Mellon University on March 4.
What’s TEDx? It’s “a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

These aren’t officially comic book jobs, but your comic book skills might come in handy for a couple of them.
Click over to the site and take a look. He needs an Art Acquisition Manager, Game Designer (Digital), Game Designer (Story & Content), Associate Game Designer (Digital) and Marketing Events Manager.
My favorite is Marketing Events Manager where you’ll “work with the Marketing, PR, Business Development, and Organized Play teams to create a memorable presence at all conventions, trade shows, and sales shows. The Marketing Events Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of event planning and management.”
I’m envious of any company with an Organized Play team. It's like the Gymboree of work!

It's the weekend time again and since we're between the end of football season and baseball season, at least in the U.S., it must be comic book season. Let's take a look.
Author Joe Konrath is a very smart man on the subjects of book publishing, Amazon, and the future of the written word business. He makes a great case in a post called Amazon Will Destroy You.
Tom McLean at Bags And Boards looks at both sides of the Before Watchmen argument and comes up with some smart thoughts worthy of attention.
J. M. DeMatteis runs a very nice appreciation of his sometime collaborator Mike Ploog.
Cartoonist Lew Stringer uncovers an old Dave Gibbons strip you might not be familiar with.
This is an old link, but it’s a nice profile of gag cartoonist Bob Vojtko.
